BASSKAMP is an evening of 21st Century music highlighting Seattle's underground community of electronic and experimental musicians. Hosted by Obelus, a Seattle-based live electronic duo, BASSKAMP explores atmospheric and ambient soundscapes with DJs, live acoustic, laptop composition and free-improvisation. With an impressive lineup of local musicians, BASSKAMP extends from adventurous, sample-based freeform, live beats and sound sculpting to acoustic abstract and free jazz. BASSKAMP features members of Fourthcity, Now Device, Decibel Festival, Bass Kamp Records, and Bloc Records.
OBELUS live electronic duo, Basskamp
(Playing unplugged sort of behavior is rare for these digital dependent types.) Obelus is the Seattle-based live electronic duo of Adam Pessl and Jason Goessl. By playing traditional instruments of guitar and drums through a matrix of samplers, effects, and sequencers, Obelus reconstructs sounds into an eclectic mix of tempos, textures, and moods. These live electronic collages are lush ambient synth-and-bass-driven loops propelled by complex rhythmic progressions that take the listener on a sonic escape to the untempered regions of musical imagination.

BOOKMOBILE laptop duo
The music of Seattle's Bookmobile (Ben Torrence and Victor Couto) recalls IDM's late-'90s glory days, when digital sound exploration hadn't hardened into orthodoxies. Their excellent new debut CD, Keys, engrossingly encompasses Raster-Noton's scientific minimalism, Sonig's pranksterish splattertronica, gnomic clicks-n-cuts ambience, Fennesz-style guitar hypnosis, and alien exotica. Bookmobile's punctilious cornucopia of sounds and styles could fool you into thinking they issued from Germany and England's most respected sonic laboratories rather than a humble Seattle home studio.
