Arrow [07.19] [SEA] Live Techno: Sutekh and Safety Scissors

:: Sutekh and Safety Scissors :: LIVE
Oseao Gallery of the Senses / Seattle / July 19

"The discographies of both Sutekh and Safety Scissors read like an exhaustive archive of all that is good in techno. Both prolific producers have released masterworks on worthy labels and have worked with capable musicians. Sutekh, for instance, put out the impeccable Collaborations Vol. 1 on Force Lab with Kit Clayton and Geoff White, and has also been featured on labels Proptronix, Force Inc, !K7, Mille Plateaux, and Tektite, among others. Safety Scissors has worked with labels like Delay, Cytrax and Plug Research. The two producers are deeply entrenched in techno, as both were introduced to the genre in the early '90s in the Bay Area and Sutekh now owns and operates his own Context Free Media label. (Check context.fm for the hilarious life timeline of Sutekh and more.) To see these two together may prove to be super-saturated overstimulus . expect deep and hard bass, cinematic textures and granular synth work." - Sara Jayne Crow

I'd be interested in hearing a demo cd actually. Got anything online? The lineups have been solidified, but i'd be willing to listen to some proper hard trance for future events. Generally, I feel that hard trance works better for the dancers. I've danced for many years to all flavors of trance, and i've recently (last few years) started to push towards showcasing the flexibility of the various forms of techno. The artist has a lot more room to create something different within the techno framework. Very few artists make it to that point though.

btw, the final draft of the flyer is complete, and is up on danceritual.org. Once the final revisions are done, i'll get it posted.

I am very excited for this show..

Talking

Sutekh has got to be one of my favorite live performers of all time. I've never heard Safety Scissors live, but own a bunch of his records and can't wait to check it.

Brahman makes his long awaited return from Arizona. This guy has played some of the *sickest* techno sets I've ever heard. Can you say tension?? damn..

Bruno Pronsato n Aron B will be bringing more live goodness. I can't wait to see what these guys present. I hear it will be along the lines of Sutekh's Incest LIve album: glitched-up, mid-tempo techno. Sounds fantastic!

Herr Sehr - faceless techno returns?? 4 decks, 2 deck-nicians, layering, cutting, and getting down and dirty in the mix. It's a mystery waiting to unfold.

I think I'll be playing a similar game to the aforementioned. 3 decks, some fx... Anywhere from cutup, glitch to deep, mental swirls: Experiments in synchronicity.

Tawney n Kuma have been known to make candy ravers cry and people change their religion. More textures and beats than you can shake a stick at. Try and keep up...

... and then there's the Click! lounge playing host to a grip of lovely locals. Even more live and DJ performances ranging from house to techno to experimental.

The main room sound will be driven by a fantastic Mackie Fusion system with four subs thanks to Starborne! This is easily one of the best soundsystems I've ever heard in Seattle. I can not stress enough how special it is to have this quality of sound available. It really does make all of the difference when every nuance can leap out with clear presence.

Oh what a night this will be!!

i have the 'parts water' album and it's really one of my favorites right now. i'm very excited to see him live.

for what it matters, this will be my last show in seattle; i'm moving to chicago just days later.

In honor of such a wicked line-up (the best I've seen in Seattle), Sounding Depth is having a special show today (Tues, 8th) 11am-1pm.

Bruno Pronsato will be trying out some new live material, a dress rehersal of sorts for next Friday. He'll also be giving away a couple of CDs of his new stuff. I'll be playing all the Sutekh and Safety Scissors I can find, and we'll be giving away a couple of tickets to the show!!!

Big ups!

Default iteration3 promotional cd

I spent the last week compiling sounds from all the main room artists, and a special dj mix from misha and new unreleased track by terso on the cd. It is limited edition (100 copies) on black cdr that i'll be handing out around events in town. I'll have an mp3 version on http://danceritual.org by tonight for those wanting to check out some new sounds..
