Head mistress of Zhark International, Rachael Kozak, lives to annihilate the constructs of the innocuous trends of modern music by confronting them with substance and emotion. Creating a portal to the unspeakable abyss on a multitude of allied labels, Hecate has released over 30 records which makes her by far the most prolific female producer in hard electronic music. Thoroughly immersed in the amalgamation of the esoteric arts, science fiction and nightmare landscapes, Hecate transgresses the boundaries of all known genres.

There is no greater single force of personality in the scene than Hecate, the founder of the fiercely independent Zhark International label and creator of 10 year's worth of "the most destroyed and blasphemous electronic beat fuckery". Her sound is a dark, almost alchemic hybrid of blistering, stuttering breaks, power noise, and Eastern influences, and she has collaborated with numerous artists from across both the breakcore and the Satanic, Black, and Death metal scenes.
Hecate born Rachael Kozak and currently living in Basel, Switzerland is keenly aware of status as a female label owner and artist in a male-dominated scene; sex is a major theme in her work, along with death and the occult. One of the most extreme examples of Hecate's aesthetic is Nymphomatriarch, an album made entirely out of recordings of herself and Venetian Snares having sex on their two-week tour in 2003.
If you're getting the idea that Kozak is the scene's ultimate provocateur, you're not half wrong. But for all itâ's blatant shock value, Nymphomatriarch, like all her releases, is still highly emotional, dark music that kicks ass, blowing everyone else away for raw complexity and energy. Hecate is clearly a force to be reckoned with, a claim recently reinforced by the April release of her Brew Hideous (Sublight/Hymen) album.

Hara Isis~ PDX-Black Tide~ downright the nastiest drum n bass out of the nw.

Hara iSiS is a sure force to be reckoned with, spinning the darkest and hardest Drum and Bass and has made herself a recognized name by many in the DnB scene. She keeps the dancefloors packed and heads banging when she's on the decks. The only middle eastern female Drum and Bass DJ to come out of the Kingdom of Bahrain, she is truly one in a million. Formerly known as Tsai, iSiS started spinning in 2002 and by 2004 opened up for the world renown DJ Dieselboy in Tulsa, OK. With a limited amount of exposure to be heard in the electronic scene of Tulsa, she recently relocated to the more junglist-friendly city of Portland. Since her move she has become very involved in her local scene and has decided to start her own production crew, Black Tide Productions. With a fast growing fan base and skills to be reckoned with, she has surely gotten off to a strong start in her career. Her fierce stage presence and relentless mixing abilities will leave you consumed with both excitement and fatigue. watch for her on playing out numerous shows, her sets are not to be missed.

damn, that looks like an awesome lineup! PDX definitely needs more evil dnb/breakcore. have wanted to check out hecate since she moved to northwest, the other junglist sounds intriguing too, hopefully they'll make it up to seattle sometime...
