ROOM 1 - SONAR KOLLEKTIV 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY TOUR

Almost unbelievable how time flies by! Sonar Kollektiv was founded in 1997 by the constantly subversive DJ/producer team JAZZANOVA who are this year celebrating ten years of their label. Through their great international success JAZZANOVA have established the basis for Sonar Kollektiv. Their achievements speak for themselves and form the basis for an ever growing network. JAZZANOVA have managed to gather a roster of artists around them who, with their high quality of output, have also managed to enjoy worldwide fame: CLARA HILL, FAT FREDDYS DROP, SLOPE, AME, MICATONE, TRICKSKI
JAZZANOVA
[Sonar Kollektiv - Berlin]
http://www.sonarkollektiv.com
Alex Barck of Jazzanova celebrates 10 years of Sonar Kollektiv, the Berlin label responsible for releasing records by ame, Clara Hill, Outlines, Dimlite, Dixon, Seiji, Trickski, Fat Freddy's Drop, Benny Sings and a roster of other ground-breaking artists along with the imprint's founding members Jazzanova. Whether it's broken-beat, folk, nu-jazz, house, or singer/songwriter based music, Sonar Kollektiv set the bar high for quality from the start and never looked back.
One of the DJs from the Jazzanova crew, Alex returns to Seattle with his superb mix of soulful deep house, drum & bass, boogie, hip-hop, latin and soul! Jazzanova is one of the foremost proponents of the nu-jazz and house styles of music, gaining recognition as innovative remixers for a vast number of acts including Ian Pooley, Incognito, 4 Hero, and Masters at Work.
ROLAND APPEL of Truby Trio
[Sonar Kollektiv, Compost Records - Berlin]
http://myspace.com/rolandappel
With his first solo E.P, Roland Appel of Truby Trio, Fauna Flash and Voom:Voom, serves up a prime-time slice of house action for Sonar Kollektiv.
DARK SOLDIER is a stunning track and was already a secret hit at Miami Winter Music Conference and Sonar Festival (read the story @ http://www.factmagazine.co.uk/da/56785), since then it has found its way into the dj bags of an astonishing number of international super star DJ's. It's been constantly played by the BBC Radio one shows of PETE TONG, ANNIE MAC and GILLES PETERSON. House Single Of The Month in Mixmag! A big, big tune - 12 minutes between early LUOMO, AUDION and CARL CRAIG.
SUNTZU SOUND
[City Soul, KBCS 91.3FM - Seattle]
http://www.suntzusound.com
Inspired by the beats of West London and cities around the world, SunTzu Sound extends the soul of brokenbeat, bringing people together to dance with a blend of urban cultures and organic rhythms. Created in 2002, SunTzu is composed of four fine DJs: AC Lewis, Atlee (a.k.a. IMC Soul), Dr. J (a.k.a. 1Luv) and J-Justice, as well as Jayson Powell live on the congas. Together they have dedicated more than 50 years to music with soul: from brokenbeat to afrobeat, funk to jazz, hiphop to house. Best known as torchbearers of the rising brokenbeat scene, SunTzu is fueled by a faithful following in the Northwest and beyond. The crew's tireless efforts have made them an indispensable mainstay in Seattle, where they regularly book and promote top-shelf international talent such as Bugz in the Attic, Jazzanova, Osunlade, King Britt, and 4hero while serving as weekly hosts of Friday night’s City Soul on KBCS 91.3 FM. They were also recently nominated among Seattle Weekly's 'Best DJs of 2006' for their infectious club sets.

ROOM 2 - BACKLINE MEDIA SHOWCASE
LUSINE
[Ghostly International, Hymen - Seattle]
http://www.lusineweb.com/
Lusine is the brainchild of Jeff McIlwain for his visceral, melodic vision of abstract electronic music. Having attended Cal Arts to study 20th century electronic music and sound design for music and film, he has since recorded for labels such as !K7/MAS, Hymen, Delikatessen and Isophlux. Since making the move to Ghostly in 2003, Lusine has released "Push" , "Flat" Remixes, and the "Inside/Out" EP, as well as the stunning and widely-lauded "Serial Hodgepodge" full-length from 2004. He is one of the foremost American producers in the abstract field and an artist with a boundless future in his craft.
In 2006 Jeff McIlwain did remixes for Alex Smoke (Soma), Alex Under (Apnea), and put out an EP titled "Emerald" (Ghostly), in honor of Seattle. He also co-wrote the score for the film "Snow Angels" with David Wingo, which was written and directed by David Gordon Green and will come out in 2007. Lusine has most recently been working on an ambient album titled "Language Barrier" for Hymen Records, a remix of "Workhorse" for My Brightest Diamond, and he just finished a remix CD album + 12" titled "Podgelism" coming out on Ghostly in late March, featuring reworks by John Tejada, Apparat and Robag Wrhume amongst others.
Previous appearance highlights include opening for Ricardo Villalobos at Fabric, performing at CMJ, SXSW, Decibel Festival, Popkomm Festival, the Finlandia Vodka tour with Matthew Dear and James Cotton, and playing at LA's Getty Center amongst all major cities.
SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN
[Mush, mass.mvmnt, Slabco - Seattle]
http://strongforthefuture.com/
Scientific American, otherwise known as Andy Rohrmann, has had his hands, ears and brain in just about every area of music production imaginable. A background that encompasses jazz theory, trumpet and writing led Andy to join the band Hush Harber in the mid-nineties as a drummer. The band released one album with Up Records (also home to Built to Spill and Modest Mouse). Preferring to work as a solo artist, Rohrmann next created the Scientific American moniker by combining turntables, a primitive sampler and love for 60-70s era Funk and Soul.
His debut release was through Slabco Records, followed by an album for Mush Records titled "Strong For The Future," which garnered international attention and critical acclaim. Next up were EPs for mass.mvmt (FSSSA and Tubes) and his latest grandiose project: mass.dstrction, perhaps the world's first re-mixed mix series. mass.dstrction elevates his traditional dj mix with subsequent versions that blend, chop and rework the original, finding new sonic combinations within their source material. He has also produced remixes for The Red Stars Theory, Tristeza, Modest Mouse, 764-Hero, and FCS North.
Scientific American shows are rare, live renditions of the mass.dstrction series that blur the lines between live performance and djing. Artists he has played alongside include Diplo, Dabrye, Plaid, Four Tet, Caribou, DJ Spooky, Land of the Loops, Boom Bip and Beans. Rohrmann is also frequently booked for art installations at local museums and to create compositions for various film festivals.
NORDIC SOUL
[Decibel, Synth Club - Seattle]
http://www.myspace.com/nordicsoul
Nordic Soul is the solo moniker of Decibel Festival brainchild Sean Horton (Db founder, director and curator). More than just a moniker, the name "Nordic Soul" describes Horton's production aesthetic, which fuses the soulful sounds of Detroit's urban landscape (Horton's upbringing) with the ethereal textures and melodies associated with Northern Europe (Horton's heritage). Nordic Soul's solo releases, remixes and collaborations range from instrumental hip-hop to deep techno and often pay homage to multiple genres within a single track. As a producer, Horton's vast array of influence spawns from almost 20 years as a musician (guitar, bass, and keyboards) and 15 years as a DJ and avid music collector. As a performer Nordic Soul brings charisma and technical prowess to the stage, sharing it with a diverse selection of talent including: Funkstšrung, Luomo, Monolake, Four Tet, T. Raumschmiere, John Tejada, Tipper, Matthew Dear and Derrick May amongst many others. Horton also performs on the laptop with synth-pop quartet "Synth Club" (featuring Reggie Watts on vocals) and the soulful house quintet "Loveslap" (featuring KJ Sawka on drums). Known as "the busiest man in Seattle techno," Nordic Soul is a key member of the growing U.S. electronic music scene and clearly here to stay.
KRISTINA CHILDS - Battle of the Megamixes 2007 Champ!
[Decibel, Plasmodium, Krakt - Seattle]
http://www.kristinachilds.com/
"I'm not the type to just sit there and listen, I want to be involved," says Kristina Childs. "The first time I heard this music, I knew I wanted to play it." As well as being a guest DJ at many clubs in and around the Seattle area, she has played in Frankfurt, Bogota, Medellin, Dallas, New York, Portland, and Coeur D'Alene. Kristina has also held residencies at Seattle clubs Contour, Habana's, Art Bar, See Sound Lounge, and is a current resident of Tost, and Seattle's infamous techno monthly, aptly named Krakt. She runs Plasmodium Radio and is the Sponsorship Coordinator for Decibel. Lately she has found a renewed vision and drive to expand her skills into production. Her spare time has been spent in the studio, refining her sound and collaborating with other northwest artists, with a debut last year in the form of a vocal appearance on the Take compilation.

you always have the best costume ideas! can't wait to see this one. ; ).
looking forward to this party and really excited to have a backline room. it's not all techno, good dose of some hip hop elements and other beats to offset the broken beat grooves in the back room. also if you haven't been there in a awhile, the front room is double the size (!).
two weeks!!
