IOSIS Art Party Showroom:

Brothers Hayden and Barton Strom combine to form Antix (Iboga Records – NZ). Making music together since 1999, today they are working fulltime as producers in their Slowburning Studios, Auckland, New Zealand. The two have managed to put a few of the “big ones” under their belts, playing the VooV and U-Site Fusion Festival in Germany, The Boom in Portugal, and The Rainbow Serpent in Australia as well as Fabric in London. The Antix sound is an organic minimal groove and the brothers pride themselves on their high quality production. In 2003, Antix completed their long awaited debut album “lull” released on Danish label Iboga Records. Recurrent mention has been made of its remarkable range; its ability to work in a club or under the stars, its combination of old school tricks and new techniques, the mystery of its deep and fat pulsating bass lines alongside its uplifting, sexy atmospheres. They have played in Denmark, Sweden, Croatia, Japan, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Austria, Australia, New York, Mexico France and of course New Zealand. Remixing seems to be the main theme since the release of their highly successful album Twin Coast Discovery in 2005. Recent remix’s for The Kings’ of Leon, Pitch Black, The Fanatics and Rhian Sheehan’s Hiding Place which is on the biggest selling dance compilation to date: Love Parade 2006, prove that Antix have the Midas touch. In early 2006 we bowed down at the release of “Twin Coast Remixes.” The album contains seven remarkable re-edits from the likes of progressive wonder duo D-Nox and Frank Beckers (Vapour, Polaroid), Fitalic (Bedrock) and label mates Freq, Phony Orphants, Osiris Indriya and Sun Control Species, Ohrsten Nors and Vibrasphere (Digital Sructures) as well a bonus track by the brothers under their other alias Fiord. http://www.antixmusic.co.nz

Amanita (IOSIS Art Party - Seattle) AKA Brian Parker. From the rain soaked environment of the North West and with a deep love for Psychedelic Trance this local dj, promoter, and producer has played up and down the West coast with a who’s who list of international talent such as Mark Farina, Atmos, Talamasca, Human Blue, Oforia, Shakta, Penta, Atomic Pulse, Wizzy Noise, Sun Control Species and Ticon at a variety of festivals, concerts and events. While having a deep respect for his psychedelic roots Amanita tends to focus now on the more tribal side of psychedelic.

Cockblockers (Portland) You all ready for some cock-blockin' beats? When your feet are stompin', your noggin is bobbin' and your bum's a wigglin', you know you are feeling the infectious grooves of these heros of the Ones and Zeros. Jasno and Philly G. may be bringing it funky and light or hard and chunky, but you can count on it always being smoove and delicious.

The Goa Constrictor started spinning the "goa" in 1995 in his mother's basement. Over the next four years he continued upon this path of Bedroom DeeJay Superstardom before finding other like minded individuals in 1999. It was at this time that he started hosting the Northwests premier radio show for those interested in Psychedelic Trance music, a place where you can find him still, every Monday night on KPSU hosting FABULOUS! Radio. In addition to his forray into radio, The Goa also started playing at and throwing events between Portland and Seattle. During the past seven years The Goa Constrictor has played along side many of the worlds top performers, such as Process, Texas Faggott, Squaremeat, Loopus in Fabula, Nick Taylor, Shakta, Mubali, CPU, Astral Projection, Infected Mushroom and many others. Always bringing something different and unexpected, The Goa Constrictor has taken his moniker to new heights.

with Mask art by:

Roger Robert Wheeler is currently a resident of the Toshiro-Kaplan Artist Lofts located in Pioneer Square, Seattle; a live/work complex featuring painters, photographers, sculptors, architects, dancers and musicians. Wheeler is a founding member of the Fremont Arts Council, which is responsible for the public art and activities that have continued in the area for the last 20 years. It was Wheeler's involvement in the Fremont Solstice Parade that led to mask making. Wheeler's artwork has been seen in international exhibitions for the last 30 years. Originally a painter, his organic works in ink and acrylic combine post-modern painting with natural science. For the last ten years the emphasis has been on sculpture, particularly masks. Now much of his time is spent making masks for theater, ballet, parades, and gallery exhibits. Recent commissions include Chateau Ste. Michelle, and national exhibitions include "Maskhibition XI" in Eureka, CA and "Face the Nation" at the University of California at Davis. Wheeler is a member of Fremont's Flying Dreams Collective. They recently returned from Taiwan where they taught mask making and parading and produced a play that was co-written by Wheeler. In addition to these activities, Wheeler also has had letters and articles published in the Seattle Times and Art Access magazine, and writes a monthly column for the Fremont Chamber of Commerce Newsletter about the area's history. http://www.maskmadness.com/

Monica J. Roxburgh's masks have a strong fantasy influence, and they often combine light and dark qualities. She does not wish to create a work of art that is just pretty, without it being a little strange or mysterious as well. Enamored by the ideas of a dark carnival and an enchanted masquerade ball since childhood, she finally started to tap into that rich imagery in 1995 with her first series of masks, created for her BFA degree. After college, Monica was determined that the maskmaking continue. She started her company Goblin Art in 1999, and has since sold over 1000 handmade masks through her website and at various art shows, mask exhibits, and fine-art markets around the USA. Additionally, she has designed masks for the Cirque du Soleil gift shop, for theatre and dance companies, for the fashion industry, and for book and album cover art, including the cover and liner art for Iron Maiden's Dance of Death album. She also recently had the opportunity to delve into feature film work, when she collaborated on making 150 masks for the 2006 version of The Wicker Man. http://www.goblinart.com/

Icy (Seattle) Being artistically charged all throughout her life has enabled Nancy Brown to practice many mediums of expression including dance, sculpture, paint, drawing, costuming, metal arts, leather working, and much more. Experiencing small art exhibition successes throughout her school years into college, where she studied various forms of art and fashion related display work, she entered her first major art show in 1986, where she won the top honored Merit Award at the Gulf Coast Art Show. She also won the Edgewater Mall Display Contest for her innovativeness in window display. This knowledge flowed over into her theater/dance stage sets and costuming arts where for her art form meets function with a twist. She won the Bravo Award at the Biloxi Little Theater as Most Valuable Back Stage Person in 1991 (Set Design). Her fascination with clowns, mimes, peirots, or masked heroes/heroines meant intrigue, mystery, and power, inspiring her to explore a new form of art expression. Exposed to Mardi Gras Balls, and the uses of Venetian Masks, Icy opted to explore the use of silks, jewels, feathers, suede leather and anything else she can imagine to use to bring an added simple richness to the ball. Life is a Masquerade.

Timothy Stephens I’ve always been drawn to the beauty and pageantry of masks; the way they enhance, transform or hide our true persona. Throughout my childhood Halloweens, and those of my six siblings, my father would construct costumes and masks. He employed a variety of materials – chicken wire and cardboard were often a favorite medium. We were his walking artistic creations – goldilocks and the three bears, a line of train cars, a giant role of life-savers. The artistry, with and simple fun expressed through these early creations have left their mark on me, and serve as a continuing source of inspiration. The art of papier mache, with its characteristic weightless quality and simplicity, has for years been compelling for me. Leather, as a medium for masks, is less forgiving – but has its own allure of texture, color, and sent. With the leather, I begin by making a simple pattern, or template. This is cut out, soaked in water, wrung out, then stretched and re-flattened, to break down the fibers a bit. From there, it’s a matter of manipulating, squeezing, kneading, and pushing the material on to a form to create a relief-mold. As the piece is dried, it becomes more rigid. Surface colors are then added. Pieces are then sprayed with transparent acrylic finish to protect them from the elements. These masks are a tactile experience…

Masks will be for sale at the merchandise table

Uniting Souls Lower Level:

Patrick Turner (Movim, Agave, Terraform, Grayhound Recordings – Baltimore) Originally discovered by label A+R and world renowned producer Miguel Migs, Patrick broke through into the industry with his work on the San Francisco deep house label Transport Recordings. The name of the game with Patrick Turner is diversity. It isn’t often that you find producers who have been able to win over the hearts of DJs from deep house, progressive and techno genres simultaneously, yet this is exactly what this Baltimore native has been doing. Patrick has made live DJ appearances all over the world. His sound has graced cities such as Las Vegas, Toronto, San Francisco, Cleveland, Indiana, Tampa, Madrid, Argentina, Gran Canaria, Barcelona, Milan, Slovenia, Bulgaria and much more. Since the age of 16 he has been playing house music at Baltimore/DC area club nights and raves. Armed with precise mixing, incredible flow and a deep vision for the crowd, Patrick comes prepared to rock your body and move your mind. January of 2003 saw the launch of Patrick’s label Movim Recordings with partner Ben Camp. The duo has since signed a number of artists including Souldoubt (Freaked), Jay Tripwire (Deepen/Tango), Community Recordings (Imperial Dub, Grayhound) and Scott Findley (Nordic Trax). The concept of the label is focused around a very percussive, densely moody brand of deep tech house. The response from early releases has been fantastic and the label is selling numbers matched by only a few of the more established domestic labels. http://www.movim.com

Ramiro (Uniting Souls – SEA) A native of Bluefields, Nicaragua, Ramiro was exposed to multi-cultural music from an early age, from Caribbean soca, reggae, and dance hall to Latin music such as salsa and merengue. At 12, his family moved to New Orleans, where jazz, blues, and funk permeated the region's rich music culture. During his early college years in San Francisco, Ramiro converged upon the electronic music scene that exploded in the Bay Area in the early 90s. From the Wicked Full Moons to Come-Unity, Stompy Stomp, and the legendary Sunset outdoor parties. With the support of friends, Ramiro began producing his own events to showcase the talents of many local artists and musicians, and thus, Uniting Souls was born. Now a resident of Seattle, Ramiro continues to work towards fostering a creative, nurturing environment ripe for artistic expression, spearheading the newly-launched record label Uniting Souls Music. http://www.unitingsouls.com

Jeromy Nail (Uniting Souls – SEA) Jeromy Nail has built a reputation as one of Seattle's hardest working DJ's, respected for consistently delivering a unique, if not eclectic, vibe. Dancers have recognized his passion and energy describing his sets as "deep and powerful" and coming "from the heart." He has had the honor of sharing the stage with notables such as Miguel Migs & Lisa Shaw, Kaskade, DJ Heather, Sombionx & Lindsay, Alexander East, Mazi, Marques Wyatt, Johnny Fiasco, Joshua aka DJ Iz, Lego, Rick Preston, Jay-J, Andy Caldwell, King Britt, Taj, Jacob London, Raoul Belmans, and Derrick Carter just to name a few... http://www.unitingsouls.com

Jon Lemmon (Uniting Souls Music - Seattle) Seattle native Jon Lemmon, through hard work and devotion, has developed his musical taste into a necessity in the Northwest house music community. Having heard his musical calling at the wee age of five years old, he learned to play a wide range of instruments until 1986 when he discovered turntables and new horizons unfolded, pointing the way that would become Jon's musical path. While his initial tastes laid in post-disco electronic sounds he discovered house music two years later, and has yet to look back. Over the next eight years he made the move to Louisiana and helped foster the local scene (and in turn, his creativity) before coming home in 1995 to a blossoming Seattle house scene and quickly set up residencies around the city and gigs around the world. In 1998 Jon launched Viva Recordings and hit the ground running with releases from some of the most respected names in the house music community. Jon's breadth of experience and his ear for quality music has lent to his success thus far and will only assist him in his plan for world domination. http://www.unitingsouls.com

J-Sun (Innerflight Music - Seattle) The man behind local tech-house label Innerflight Music, for the past 3 years J-Sun has built up a following as an energetic performer with a deep crate and expressive style. With an affinity for funked out electro tech-house and breaks, J brings the beats with style and originality guaranteed to keep the dance floor groovin. When not sharing the decks with such stalwart performers as Garth, Hipp-E, Derrick May and Sunshine Jones, J-Sun works tirelessly to keep Seattle's underground dance floor alive, whether he's throwing a party in a downtown loft or in the middle of the Cascades. He currently keeps a busy schedule, playing Nijo Sushi every Thursday, the Innerflight monthly at Tost, and many other one-off shows across town. http://www.innerflight.com

Packy (Uniting Souls, Innerflight - SEA) http://www.innerflight.com/

LoveVirus is 2 years old. It was that many years ago when Carter Wade, previously known as djniugini, began his quest to infect the world with positive energy. Through his eclectic blend of funky, rhythmic, moving tracks, and his upbeat positive presence, the LoveVirus is doing his share to bring about a revolution. Be sure to catch this forward thinking, atypical dj on the Uniting Soul’s stage. You will Love it!

In the chill room:

Gordon Field (Interchill Records - BC) aka DJ Field remains on his quest to unearth the freshest sonic vistas from around the world. Inspired by the hybrid musical evolution of electronic, ambient, dub, ethno & lounge, Field is best known to unite modern cross-cultural musical boundaries, introducing to the listeners a new breed of indigenous digital organic music. Previous DJ appearances with … DJ Cheb i Sabbah, Banco de Gaia, Bluetech, Irina Mikhailova, Toirés, Shpongle, Adham Shaikh, Neil Sparkes, Legion of Green Men. Spinning in venues as far reaching as Montreal, New York City, Vancouver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Toronto, Helsinki, the Greek Islands, Bulgaria, and Sweden. http://www.interchill.com/

Mythril (Deliria – BC) Mythril is known for his deep morning sets with uplifting melodic messages and thumping, groovy basslines, graceful launches and gentle landings. His versatility ranges from neo full-on and progressive psychedelic trance (saiko, not psycho), to breakbeats, asian remix, psy dub and mid-downtempo that you can dance to. Mithril is the mythical elvish alloy - impervious, light to wield, and majikal. It was made into enchanted armour and weapons by the elves of Middle Earth when they forged friendship with the dwarves of the mountains. Ian Tomas has been a multi-instrumentalist since 1987 involved in live projects in Toronto, Montreal & Vancouver of diverse genres. In 1998 he started djing in the west coast's electronic underground at annual fesitvals. These include: Shambhala, Amazone, Unity, Faeries & Fools, Intention, Diversity, In:Vision, Karma, Reconvergence of the Tribes, Alluvium, Soothe, Coastal Sessions, Lumina, Entheogenesis, Symmetree, and Solstice Gatherings. http://www.mythril.ca/

Mentats (Miss Solar System – Seattle) Hailing from the intergalactic, genre warping group- Miss Solar System, their combined production and performance highlights include: KJ Sawka, BeeHive, The Fading Collection, The Diamond Hand, Ripley, Christ Analogue, Vertebrae, i-9, Data Phantastiq , and more. Their unique treatments of Ambient/Down-tempo, Breaks, Hip-hop, Psytrance, and Drum'n'Bass have been featured at events such as: Critical Massive, IOSIS Art Party, Phoenix Festival, SeaCompression, Tokyo 2025 (1+2), Fremont Fair and more! - The surprise hit of the 2006 Primal Matter Chill Room, this time, it's bigger, better and sure to set your mind in motion!! http://www.myspace.com/thementats

Special Midnight Performance by:

Pure Cirkus was born in 2003 as a Seattle-based body art theatre group called P.U.R.E. (People Undergoing Real Experiences). For two years the group performed only within the small community of body modification and suspension, keeping to nightclubs and private events. In the summer of 2005, as they began combining both circus talents and body modification, the group realized that they had something far larger then they had ever imagined. On Oct 28th 2005, almost overnight, the group called P.U.R.E was transformed into PURE Cirkus and performed for the first time under their new name. By pulling together talented performers from all over the country they push the limits of the human mind and body by combining circus performance with Tribal theatre. They have embraced all forms of entertainers such as jugglers, clowns, sideshow freaks, fire, suspension and piercing enthusiasts, dancers, acrobats, aerialists, musicians and other circus and cabaret artists that have come together to build what will be a lasting circus that will entertain people for generations. http://www.purecirkus.com

The chill room will be in the Stellners, also known as Annex Theatre. It is right between the Showroom and the stairs going down to the Lower Level.
