This March 12th 2010, Kounterstrike Kru & Original Theory Productions team up to bring you a production over a year in the making; the most anticipated and longest running dance event in Alaska is back with its 5th installment.

Every year we try and make the Smile franchise more memorable and this year is no different. Ask anyone what their favorite event of the past 5 years was and chances are it was a Smile event. Bio's

Johnny Monsoon:


After several years of hard work, Johnny has become one of the US's amazing trance DJ's. You can find his live sets being shared in online forums and airing on internet radio stations all over the world. He has a new podcast series on iTunes called "The Sound of Trance" that is consistently ranked in the top 25 audio podcasts on all of iTunes within its first year online. From an opening set where you'd hear a melodic progressive sound with bits of house, techno and electro, to a peak hour set full of uplifting euphoric trance, expect to hear it all.

He's been hand-picked to play alongside Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold, Ferry Corsten, ATB, Above & Beyond, Eddie Halliwell, Blank & Jones, Markus Schulz, Kyau & Albert, Christopher Lawrence, Sander Van Doorn, Judge Jules, John '00' Fleming, George Acosta, Darude, Talla 2XLC, Filo & Peri, DJ Micro, D:Fuse, Jimmy Van M and the list goes on.



Ross Young:



Ross Young has been DJing since the age of 14. He started playing out at small house parties. As his confidence grew and skills progressed, more and more venues, parties and Raves became accustomed to hearing his mixing ability. During his time Ross has also played a lot of dance shows on various radio stations around London as a resident and Guess Shows including; ICE FM (88.4) MAC FM (92.7), LIFE FM (98.1), DIVINE FM (88.6), HYPE FM (99.7 and Currently playing on London's premier House station PASSION FM (91.8, www.passion918fm.com / www.passion4music.co.uk )

In addition to his radio commitments, Ross Young was very involved in the running of west London’s leading underground dance music record shops called Cage Records , located in Ealing, London and Kingston Upon Thames. It is at this shop that Ross Young's knowledge and understanding of music and how it can affect people grew while he retailed and produced House Music (Cage Recording Studios being located directly above the Shop).Ross is on the cutting edge of music and it shows in his technical skills as he works the dance floor and bar.

Ross Young has and is still producing various dance tracks like 'Feel The Vibes', ‘Smooth Operator’ Feat: MC R.B. and DJ’s R.Y. & M.T. presents ‘Swing My Way’ out on Cage Underground (UK). Which have been played on Major Radio Stations like Kiss FM and Radio 1.


Kid Sonic MC:


Sonic MC is and has been performing in the Jungle/Drum'n Bass scene since 1995, he first got his start at New York Cities Koncrete jungle, where TCizlam took the up and coming MC under his wing and taught him the "ins and outs" of the scene as well as the music. Sonic being a very quick study took to the music like a fish to water.

Sonic has performed along side such NYC legends as: DJ Empress, Pish-Posh aka Wally, Reid Speed, DJ Odi, 9x, Christian Beau & Bruna, High Contrast, LTJ Bukem DJ Dark Star, DJ Soul Slinger, Del Mar, Cassien of Ledgin, DJ Seen as well as Hedrush.

What sets this MC apart from the rest of the pack is his strong voice and his hip-hop style flow which he has kept and stayed with, in a scene where everyone wants to sound like the UK MCs Sonic has stuck with his style and stayed true to himself, the music and the scene above all. As well as the stateside scene, anyone who has ever seen him perform all agree that Sonic is more than just an MC; he is an entertainer of the finest and highest calibre.

Since moving to Seattle he has worked with: Demo & Cease of the Human Imprint, DJ Slantooth of Compound Records, DJ Zacharia, Kid-Hops, the Dowlz of Kaos Theory and DJ Grym & Flatlyne of Onset Saturday Nights. Sonic is currently working with area locals to record his first solo project. Sonic says, "The reason I haven't bothered to put anything out is because I feel I'm not yet ready and I need time to grow and mature as far as my style is concerned, not to mention I love so many styles and genres of music that i want to put out a record that reflects me as a person and an artist!"



L@zuryte:



E.J. Dixon known as DJ L@zuryte has been mixing for literally months, but time means nothing when you have pure talent. The mind melding mixtures of Trance, Electro, Hard Trance, to Hard Dance have stired the Alaskan scene into a dancing frendzy. Sure to impress without fail, L@zuryte has been said to have been created in a science lab by crazed ravers who were looking for the perfect track selection and impeccable mixing. We the scene have welcomed this creation with open arms and expect fantasticly amazing things from him.



Guile:


Formerly known as Dj Samurai, that played Hands Up & Happy Hardcore.




Mad Mike:



Born in Anchorage, Alaska. Mike started DJing eight years ago in Los Angeles. His influences range from Armin Van Buren and Ferry Corsten to Paul Van Dyk and George Acosta.

He has played alongside with the likes of Carl Cox, Sandra Collins and The Crystal Method at such venues as Spundae, Giant, God's Kitchen, Avalon & the Circus. Mike is regarded as the best Trance DJ in Alaska. Mike will be touring across eastern Europe next year including the Cross Club in Prague. He is currently a resident at the famed Mad Myrna's in Anchorage.

you'll see plenty of moose..... what you don't see many down there? there was a moose in my backyard the other night. I'm working hard to get my sled/ snowmachine ready for riding something went out on it recently & it's been buggin the shit outta me.

The upshot being that Jeremy retained proceeds which did not belong to him. As far as I know, he may have given some of the proceeds to people that crewed on the show, but at least two of the principals, myself and Lara Sobel, have not received any compensation for the 500 and 250 hours (respectively) we each committed to fabricating, managing, promoting, etc the show.
