Tiger Stripes is Stockholm based producer/DJ Mikael Nordgren aka 12th Floor and D’Malicious.

TS recently signed his first EP with uber-trendy Get Physical and reached No.2 in the Beatport charts in the last week of October with the track ‘Survivor’ that was subsequently signed by DATA in the UK.(tbc at the time of writing this). With singles and an album (“Safari”) also released on legendary NYC label King Street, as well as forthcoming singles and remixes on Slip’N’Slide, Defected, King Street, Urbantorque, ProgCity Deep Trax, Audio Therapy, Jinks, Circulation, Expanded and Dieb Recordings, his name and sound is spreading like wildfire.

He recently finished building his brand new studio, now located in the same studio complex as some of Sweden’s finest techno producers, and his sound reflects the recent upgrade and you can also notice a slight shift into the darker and more electronic techno-influenced world where his new neighbours resides.

A lot of people might recognise him as the mastermind behind ‘Stockholm-Go Bang!’, a collaboration with Jerome ‘Sandcastles’ Sydenham, that came out on Ibadan last year and was a favourite with both house and techno heads all over the world. He has released 2 big tracks with Jerome Sydenham for Ibadan after that, and together they produced a hugely popular remix of Faze Action on Juno Records (also remixed by Carl Craig)….and he also remixed the classic ‘That’s The way…’ by Ten City along with the massive Sydenham & Ferrer’s “Sandcastles” for Ibadan!

The first time you may have seen his alias ‘Tiger Stripes’ though was in 2004 when he released the afro-tastic piano driven house stomper ‘Dingo’, on Slip’N’Slide. The years following that, before moving his sound further underground, titles like his ‘Missing You’, featuring singers Melo & Linn as well as Rasmus Faber (Remixed by Mr.V and Raw Artistic Soul) and ‘Vem Sambar’ on Slip’N’Slide was huge on the funky house scene and went on numerous compilations worldwide. Releases on top quality labels around the world, like Gossip, King Street/Nitegrooves, Slip’N’Slide, House Afrika & Ibadan, cemented his place on the top level of the house scene.

Tiger Stripes also created quite a stir by remixing massive tracks like DJ Gregory’s “S2” on Faya Combo; Red’s “Release The Pressure” for Southern Fried; Red Carpet’s “Alright” on Positiva, as well as remixes of house favourites ‘Most Precious Love’ by Blaze & “Our Time” by King Britt amongst others…

Together with Kerri Chandler, that year he also produced “Rain Song” featuring Kerri Chandler on Large Records as well as the latin-techno-jazz-fusion track for Raw Fusion, called “Salsa 313”, under the 12th Floor alias…along with a couple of secret bootlegs for his Go Bang! DJ sets;-)

Separately, as D’Malicious he was responsible for the classic techno 12”, “Dark Tradition” on Francois K’s Wave Music, that earned him fans such as Jerome Sydenham, Dennis Ferrer & Carl Craig amongst others.. and he’s now finishing off a new D’Malicious album for Wave.

Alongside of this he was also running one of the most respected club nights in Stockholm, Go Bang!, where the only invite the best and most prolific DJs and live acts to play, including Osunlade, Jerome Sydenham, Kerri Chandler, Dennis Ferrer, Claude VonStroke, Lindstrom & Âme to mention just a few.

Lately his more underground productions has landed him recording and remix deals with the cream of European labels, from underground imprints like Get Physical, Dialect and Liebe Detail and Urbantorque to more commercial labels like Ministry Of Sound/DATA etc.

As a DJ he keeps his sound very mixed up, despite people trying to pigeon-hole him as a this-or-that -style-DJ. The truth is that his musical background is to long and varied to limit himself, so he keeps playing American Deep House and techno mixed with the most minimal German click-house and Scandinavian electronic tech-house…and whatever else he can mix in for good measure.


Tiger Stripes is a force to be reckoned with in the years to come and he will continue to evolve his sound to stay on top of his game, and with SOUNDZ Management and a dedicated DJ Bookings team backing him, he’s well on his way to move into the very top-level of international dance music.

yeah, that is a great flyer and lineup. but do some research, you'll find some great tracks -'Mad at Me' that came out last year was great.

Tiger Stripes = straight up sickness. There's a good portion of my virtual record box filled by Tiger Stripes.

I just saw this and thought WOW Beatport has already been around for 5 years !!! Then noticed this party was at Cielo WOOW that sound system and light setup is probably the best IVe ever seen.



Maybe we should bring the whole setup we normally use for the 2410 upstairs at the 720 and blow the roof off that place!!!!

i have never heard this system you have but it gives me goose bumps just thinking about it.

I love me some Get Physical! But when you do it at the 2410 it's gonna be out of control! This and Kontrol vs. Auralism are gonna make March tough to beat this year. Way to tear into 2009!


And Ekim vs. Anton Loshe is some delicious icing on a fantastic cake!
