Cates & DPL - "Through the Weekend"Album Release Party @ PALA
Pala Fashion Lounge presents
Cates & DPL "Through the Weekend" CD Release Party

Cates & DPL
Morrison Recordings - Global Underground
Cates&dpL are Jon Cates and Dave Lind aka Cates/ Dave Dish. The duo stroke gold on their second major release on Morrison Recordings (based out of Toronto,Canada) when going 1 on Beatport.com for Breaks Downloads, after that the duo found themselves on DJ MAG DECEMBER 2006 ISSUE MIX CD by JAMES ZABIELA "APPLIANCE OF SCIENCE MIX". Within 2 months after that, CATES&DPL recieved the greatest honor by being on GLOBAL UNDERGROUND PARIS mixed by the one and only NICK WARREN (WAY OUT WEST,and former DJ for the world famous band MASSIVE ATTACK). After all the recent triumphs, CATES&DPL began to work on material for their third album in late spring of 2007. Working on stuff away from one another, and then meeting up in the studio to compile tracks, and compare sounds, the duo recently finished recording album number 3, and it will be out late summer of 2007. Having a unique sound, the new album is not a concept album per se, it is a variety of music styles presented in under one hour, while maintianing a cohesive band identity. Cates&dpL have been noted for their musicianship throughout the time they first started back in 2003, and within 4 years, Cates&dpL have matured and so have the musical techniques and devices - which give each track its own character and feeling. Not wanting to sound like every other electronic act, Cates&dpL have put more attention on being a team, rather than solo artists, this effort stands out in the music, each song is carefully crafted and produced by the two artists, who gain influence from eachother everyday. When considering what would be best for their third relase....filling up a 80 minute cd full of trax and fillers, or take the risky route and release an epic music soundscape that runs just over 55 minutes, was the route they choose. Cates&dpL are determined to present their new material to the public in a way that shows the real side of the duo, a side that displays true musicianship. Expect to hear the full new album by August 2007. For more info please stay tuned to this page or the blog section. Cates&dpL would like to thank all the fans, and friends who support.

Do they play live as well ? Or will this be a dj set only. I saw them play live at Hydra Electric, and they played live, it was sick. Cates was on the computer, and dpl used a guitar to add efx. Anyways, they are really a good duo to see. Count me in...
