a little about the performers......
JOSH WINK (ovum recordings-PHI)
Josh Wink (Philadelphia's Josh Winkelman) is an electronic music DJ, label owner, producer, remixer, and artist. Wink's style is a mixture of dance styles like techno, acid, house, drum and bass, and breaks. In 1995, he released several hits, including "Don't Laugh," "I'm Ready" (which hit #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart) and "Higher State of Consciousness," which topped the dance charts in Europe. He has had many recent club hits such as "How's Your Evening So Far?" (with Lil Louis) and "Superfreak (Freak)" and has also gained a lot of attention for his remixes of FC Kahuna, Paul Oakenfold, Moby, Towa Tei, Ladytron and Depeche Mode, among others.
He also has founded his own successful record label called Ovum Recordings with King Britt. He worked with Ursula Rucker and Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails as a producer and remix specialist.
Josh records and produces under many aliases such as Wink, Winc, Winks, Winx, The Crusher, E-Culture, and Size 9.
FUNKSTORUNG (!K7 studios-MUNICH)
Munich's Funkstörung have been described as the German Autechre, a description which probably has less to do with their sound than the interest the group has attracted to their Musik Aus Strom label. Similar to Autechre's Skam label, Musik Aus Strom (German, roughly, for "synthesizer music") has become one of the more collectible, obsessed-over underground electronica labels
Composed of Michael Fakesch and Chris De Luca (both barely into their 20s), Funkstörung's more recent excursions into dark, electro and instrumental hip-hop were preceded by a number of relatively straight-ahead techno records on Bunker sublabel Acid Planet beginning in 1994. The duo were contacted soon after by none other than Aphex Twin's Rephlex label about releasing some material, but stalled plans and unanswered phone calls led the pair to forego the label-shopping route early on, and most of their most significant material to date (with the exception of a few compilation tracks and a single for Compost) has appeared through MAS. Although the Bunker singles far outnumber their later self-released material, MAS twelves such as "Zeit," "Breakart," and "Artificial Garbage" compose the group's more sophisticated, mature sound

FYI....
this show is a true collaboration. Steven (Chop Suey talent buyer) aproached me with the idea of bringing Funkstorung and we were a little nervous about having them on a Saturday by themselves and then the Josh Wink thing came up and that is when we thought of getting Perfect Hit involved and it all fell together. I am looking forward to working with Kiki and Steven on this and seeing all the amazing people that will be out for this show. Honestly, these are the kind of ecstatic moments that remind me of why I got into promoting to begin with.
See you all on Nov.19 !!!!!!
