Above & Beyond have enjoyed a meteoric rise to the top of the global dance music scene, culminating in six nominations at last year's International Dance Music Awards in Miami and a ranking of 9 in DJ Mag's Top 100 list. Their recent artist album 'Tri-State' was rated 'Brilliant (5/5)' by DJ Magazine and has been critically acclaimed as one of the stand-out electronic albums of 2006. The Sun, the UK’s biggest selling tabloid paper, described 'Tri-State' as "one of the most original trance albums for years", and it has been featured in iTunes’ Top Ten US dance albums for over three months.
The album features 13 original songs written by the guys, including the singles "Air For Life" (winner of Best Underground Dance Track at the 2006 IDMA's) with Andy Moor, "Alone Tonight", "Can't Sleep", World On Fire", "Stealing Time" and "Good For Me".
Above & Beyond's weekly "Trance Around The World" radio show has built a fanatical global following on the internet. The show stands at the forefront of trance and has been responsible for breaking many of the scene's biggest records.
The best records from the show and from the trio's respected Anjunabeats label ('If there's a more on point label we’re yet to find it' Mixmag) feature in Above & Beyond's popular 'Anjunabeats Volume' compilation series. The latest episode, Anjunabeats Volume Four, was released in July 2006.

hell yeah!
This will be my first time seeing Above & Beyond...the show is aptly timed as well, considering that June 8th is RIGHT after I finish spring quarter finals and the summer officially starts

I like the fact LSC would try to spread out the electronic music a bit. breakbeats / house / dnb are great, but they're not the only loved genre in the states. above and beyond are awesome producers.
i hope the trance scene comes back in seattle in the next few years, i miss it.

Typically Paavo Siljamäki (the one with glasses) does not travel too often unless its a massive massive event. I've heard he spends time with his family.
Here is how they came up with the name:
Tony McGuinness "The three of us got together to do a remix for Chakra's "Home," and when we finished the remix and were just about to send it off to Warner's, where I was working at the time, we thought 'damn, we've got to come up with a name for the mix.' I looked around Jono's studio and there was this piece of paper printed out from the internet stuck to the wall above his bed.
He had put 'Jonathan Grant' into AltaVista which was the equivalent of Google in those days and he found this website of this motivational guru trainer, and 'above and beyond' was his slogan. So I was sitting there, looking over the room, and I see 'above and beyond' and I just thought, 'that's perfect,' so it was called the Above and Beyond mix. I don't know that we thought of ourselves being above and beyond at that point, it was that the mix was called Above and Beyond, but then we started getting more work, and consequently it became our name. I think it sort of sounds a bit like we want to sound, it's kind of onomatopoeiac in that way. "

I really don't know who's pipe you were smoking from that night, no disrespect intended, but these guys have rocked it the last two times I've seen them. And by what I saw from the crowds responses, most everybody there would agree, Above & Beyond kicks some ass!
The only bad thing I could possibly say about LSC booking these guys is that the club just ain't big enough for them. They will be releasing their newest cd to the world come mid may and the one previous really defines new age electro-trance, I can't wait to hear this one!
Keep up the good bookings/parties LSC, Jason, Johnny, SK, and all the others who make Friday nights so much fun!

WE'RE GETTING CLOSER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are releasing Anjunabeats Volume 5 on June 5th (3 days before this show) and I can tell you that this mix cd of theirs is mindblowing!!!
You can listen to each track and Pre-Order the double CD here:
http://cdjshop.com/boredofascribblyc...MCF_Anjunanews
If they drop these from the CD...ohhhh man!!!!!:
Above & Beyond pres. Tranquility Base - Buzz
Above & Beyond pres. Tranquility Base - Oceanic
Adam Nickey - Never Gone (Above & Beyond Respray)
Here are the pics in my gallery from their last show here:
http://johnnymonsoon.com/albums/above
And a few reviews from that show:
-WOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW, tonight was such a badass night.
-Above & Beyond, well they as usual went WAY Above and Beyond tonight. Not only are they very down to earth humble people (they stayed on as long as possible.), I got the chance to talk both of them .
-Damn that was a show, the dance floor was pretty packed before 11pm!!! So damn tired today, Pics to come soon
-Such an amazing night!!! Above & Beyond's set was just plain ridiculous! I couldn't keep my feet on the floor! I glad you all came out to share it with me...I wish everyone could of been there. Next time for sure!
-Thx LSC and Johnny for doing such a great job with this show. I missed Armin a few weeks ago and was kicking myself, but this definitely made up for it. So much good trance from both Johnny and A&B. Danced for the majority of the evening except when I had to chase down a rogue drink stealer in girl's clothing Energy 52 definitely was an excellent old school track to have in there ... quality. Kudos guys ! Thx for the exceptional lineups and performances you keep providing.
-A&B were playing some great tunes as well. They started out much more 'proggy' then I expected, which was a nice treat. I felt they built into their peak stuff more logically then the last times I have seen them. My personal favorite of their Seattle performances!
-Then Above & Beyond...only one thing i have to say Cafe Del Mar - Energy 52...OMG .....OFF THE FUCKING HOOK!!

I cannot wait until June 8th to roll around! They rocked the place last time, playing a lot of great tracks (closing out the set with Can't Sleep was sooo bomb) I can't wait to hear what johnny is bringing this time too, great job warming up the place last time =].
All i need to hear from them this time is
Super8 & Tab's "suru"
Their club mix of "Home"
and DT8 projects "The Power of One"
And they will make my year!
BTW if you haven't picked up the prerelease of Anjunabeats Vol. 5 definately pick it up on June 5th, it is imo one of the best trance albums of this year.
