"*(Baby Anne)*" @ LEVEL [10.04.03][PDX]
Saturday, October 4th Join Daddy-O Production’s:
As the Resurrection continues with Baby Anne http://www.moonshine.com/global_imag...icture1-38.jpg One of the countrys most popular female DJs, Baby Anne, has made her mark on the nation. Her hi-octane sets of breakbeat energy, fused with heavy doses of Miami bass has rocked many a dance floor at clubs and raves from coast to coast. Encouraged by her good friend DJ Icey, Marianne started spinning in 1992. Icey had seen her on the dance floor busting out great moves and they became instant friends. He encouraged her to start spinning so she bought her first set of Technics and never looked back. The Orlando based DJ has a number of singles to date, including Trippin On the Bass, Abercrombie, and Bass Queen, as well as Freak's Groove on DJ Icey's Zone Records, plus singles released on other labels including Fury on Moonshine. Her signature sound which fuses Miami bass and electro with funky breakbeats makes DJ Baby Anne a lot more than just a DJ - it makes her one of the greatest female DJs in the world. While in her hometown, The Bass Queen herself frequently holds court at Orlando's Icon. When she makes her presence known, upwards of 1,000 fans are treated to guest DJs as well as Baby Anne's own brand of funky breaks. Having received raving reviews and press coverage on publications such as The Miami Herald, Omaha World-Herald, Lunar Magazine, and Omaha Weekly, DJ Baby Anne doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon. With three highly successful mix albums already released, Baby Annes joined Moonshine Music in May 2002 to release, Im About to Break, which went on to become one of Moonshines best selling albums in 2002. This mix CD featured high-energy funky breaks including her singles, Fury and She Said, alongside her long time friend and mentor DJ Icey's Thor. 2003 marks the year that Baby Anne stepped up to the plate to join an exclusive group of DJs (including Carl Cox, Tall Paul and Donald Glaude), on Moonshine's Mixed Live series: The only live DJ mix in 5.1 Surround Sound. Mixed Live is a true test of a DJ's skill. There's no room for mistakes, and Baby Anne showed the packed crowd at Club Ra - Las Vegas that she can hold her own with the worlds best. With super special guests Aizlynn (Jack Junkies/pictureofsound - PDX) and Mena (pictureofsound - PDX) We have transformed the outdoor patio into the ultimate Urban Tiki Lounge. oh yay.... BABY ANN is coming.............. to LEVEL. Dont forget to borrow grandmas hearing aid when you come, its going to come in handy. To the owners and promoters of LEVEL..... take a deep breath and pull your heads out of your asses. It would be an emberassment to the artist, to play at a club that is so horribly equipped for sound. Sorry but 4 monitor speakers is not going to cut it. If you have any sense you will at least remedy this situation for Aphordite. You DO KNOW he spins drum & BASS. You need the same setup the OHM has for yo shit to bang. GET LEARNED!!!!!!!!
|
Dont get me wrong .... LEVEL has the best upcoming lineup in portland....ANN, DAN, APHRO, CARTER, FLAVE & EVA....etc...... just do something about the sound.
|
whoah...
*waits for flame fest* what? |

Didnt mean to start a shit fest, or anything.... first and formost I am not affiliated with the OHM, though i have had some of the best times of my life there over the past 3 years of partying. Second I am striclty speaking from experience, from the shows that i have seen there.... like D:FUSE for example ..... had horrible sound.... hell, even you guys pushing and pushing the parties at Level (and dont get me wrong, you guys have an insane lineup coming up) that the sound was below sub par. Sorry this is not ignorance, this is speaking from experience. I dont know all i could think about was Aphordite coming to Portland and playing on the system i heard there before.... that would have been an emberassment IMHO.However you seemed to have the situation remedied.... so consider me humbled..... see ya all at Sandra tonight.
Peace Keep it loud and keep it bangin. |
..and today i think they're fixing the one that sounds like fartfart on the left of the stage... otherwise the sound on the stage in front of the booth is really fuckin' good.
imo the ohm sounds great next to the stage too, but if you get too far away, the speaker in the back by the coast check is delayed practically a half second & you get this HORRIBLE consistent trainwreck effect all night long... rule of thumb - don't dance by the coatcheck @ the ohm, dance by the stage! |
